Munich/Germany, May 04, 2010 – Vincotech, a supplier of module-based solutions for power electronics, today announced the release of a new product family called flowIPM 1B. This new compact intelligent power module (IPM) integrates power semiconductors for rectifier, inverter, and power factor correction (PFC) with a driver circuit and sense resistors.
The new flowIPM is destined primarily for embedded motor drives for fans, pumps, professional power tools, and similar applications. Its integrated PFC circuit helps to achieve maximum power efficiency, while its compact design and sophisticated thermal management make it the solution of choice for tight spaces. The module comes in a 17-mm high flow 1B housing measuring just 72 mm by 36 mm.
Unlike most other IPM designs, Vincotech’s flowIPM integrates not only the inverter, but also a rectifier, PFC circuit, and an entire driver circuit in a single module, with no extra external components required. The integrated shunts enable ultra precise current sensing for the PFC and inverter.
The flowIPM 1B family comprises four types. 4A and 10A versions are available for the inverter section. The PFC circuit can be optionally equipped with a highly efficient SiC diode. Other options such as press-fit technology or phase-change material are also available on demand.
