Beaverton, Oregon – August 26, 2010 – TenAsys Corporation (www.tenasys.com), a leading provider of real-time OS and virtualization software, announced that Corevalus Systems, LLC of Georgetown, Kentucky, has selected TenAsys’ INtime® for Windows® real-time operating system (RTOS) to enable real-time mixing of high-quality audio by Corevalus’ SamePage Personal Mixing Station. The latest Corevalus system based on INtime will be demonstrated at the Intel® Developer’s Forum on September 13th-15th in San Francisco, CA.
Corevalus’ SamePage Mixing Station gives performers the ability to control more than 16 channels of high-quality audio with the option of creating their own personal music in real-time. The system is based on Corevalus’ SamePage Performance Station which provides paperless music management and display. The Performance Station’s innovative software architecture uses TenAsys’ INtime RTOS to host the real-time audio mixing functions for up to 16 channels simultaneously on one core of an Intel multi-core processor, while the product’s intuitive Windows-based user interface runs on any of the remaining processor cores.
“Corevalus’ use of INtime is a testament to the software’s ability to add real-time determinism to Windows-based systems,” said Kim Hartman, TenAsys Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “We are proud to be part of this revolutionary technology and will continue to seek out similar opportunities that support our expansion into new markets.”
TenAsys’ INtime RTOS runs alongside Microsoft Windows on the same Intel Architecture computing platform, providing deterministic support for real-time processes while Windows handles human-directed tasks. The Corevalus system needed real-time determinism in order to allow the adjustment or customization of the music simultaneously as it is being played by the musicians. With Windows alone, latencies or gaps in response by the system could range from the order of 10 milliseconds to multiple seconds in time, severely impacting the quality and immediacy of the music production.
“The use of INtime provides our customers with the ability to mix music in real-time, something that none of our competitors can do,” explains Mark Craig, Vice President of Corevalus. “Since INtime was developed to run alongside Windows applications, we were able to preserve our legacy system development investments and enhance our SamePage application at the same time, making TenAsys the obvious choice for our real-time needs.”
