FRAMINGHAM, MA — MAY 11, 2010 Robotics Trends today announced that the second conference in the Robotics Trends Virtual Summit Series will focus on New Applications for Industrial Robotics. The event will take place September 15, 2010.

Robotics Trends Virtual Conference and Exposition provides attendees with complimentary access to industry thought leaders, content-rich sessions, and the opportunity to network with best-of-breed robotic and intelligent systems technology providers from the comfort of their homes or offices. Free to attend, the Virtual Summit will remain live, on demand for 90 days after the event, extending the marketing exposure for sponsors and exhibitors. The Series Sponsors of the 2010 Robotics Trends Virtual Summits are MobileRobotics Inc. and National Instruments.

New Applications for Industrial Robotics

In the past, most industrial robots were designed for capital-intensive, large-volume manufacturing in the automotive, electronics and semiconductor industries. This percentage has been dropping dramatically as solution providers have added intelligence, vision, mobility and other capabilities to their systems, developed application specific products, and worked with integrators to develop new applications, often for industries that have never utilized robotics technology in the past.

“The New Applications for Industrial Robotics Virtual Summit will highlight new, innovative and often surprising ways in which robots and robotic technology are being used to reduce costs and increase competitiveness,” says Dan Kara, president of Robotics Trends. “We’re excited about educating our attendees about the benefits of adding these new, cutting-edge technologies to help them run their businesses more effectively.”

A sampling of new applications in which robotics technologies are being used include:

  • Healthcare Automation
  • Warehouse/Distribution Automation
  • Mixed-Case Packaging and Palletizing
  • Food Production and Preparation
  • Energy Systems Production

Representative topics to be covered include:

  • Flexible Automation
  • Bench-top Systems
  • Multi-Robot Systems
  • Precision Assembly
  • Human/Machine Interfaces
  • Dexterous Grasping and Fine Manipulation

Platinum Sponsors: ABB Robotics, MobileRobots Inc.
Gold Sponsors: Motoman, National Instruments
Silver Sponsor: Wind River

Due to the virtual event format, exhibit space is limited. To secure your participation now through sponsorship and exhibiting opportunities, contact Rich Erb at 508-663-1500 x331 or email rerb@ehpub.com.
